Toronto to host the 100th Anniversary Ontario Lifesaving Championships at Woodbine Beach, Aug 10 - 12 2008
Toronto, ON. - The Lifesaving Society is pleased to announce the 100th Anniversary Ontario Lifesaving Championships will be held in Toronto Aug 10 - 12, 2008 at Woodbine Beach. The competition is hosted by the City of Toronto, the Toronto Police Lifeguard Services and are being sponsored by AQUAM Inc. and Blistex, and are supported by the Toronto Port Authority.
The Ontario Lifesaving Championships are intended for bona fide lifesavers who have demonstrated a commitment to lifesaving – people who are lifesavers first, competitors second.
Over 200 of the finest Lifesaving Sport athletes from across Ontario will provide excitement on Toronto’s waterfront. Competitors have the opportunity to display their skills in events that simulate real lifesaving rescues including: Surf Ski Race, Beach Sprint and Iron Guard. All of the events are engineered to test both speed and endurance – signature prerequisites of a lifesaver.
The Championships will take place at Woodbine Beach from August 10 to 12, 2008.
