Ontario Appoints New Lifesaving Sport Director
TORONTO, March 20, 2007 – The Lifesaving Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Lorraine Wilson-Saliba as Lifesaving Sport Director effective June 1, 2007. Lorraine assumes sport duties from Lifesaving Sport/Merchandise Director Brian Miess who will devote full attention to growing the Society’s merchandising activity as Merchandise Director. Lorraine will be responsible for lifesaving sport and the management of the Society’s research initiatives.
Lorraine started her volunteer career with the Society as a member of the Lifeguard Competition Committee. She chaired the committee from 1993–1995.
Lorraine has extensive experience in Ontario and Canadian championships as an organizer, official, judge and referee. She is a certified Level 3 Official, Judge and Referee, and an Officials Trainer. Internationally, Lorraine has officiated in both World and Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships. She is the Meet Manager for the 2009 Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships in Edmonton.
Lorraine is a former Leadership Training Chair and vice president from 1998–2003. She has served as Program Manager since November 2003.
Lorraine holds BAs from Brock University in Recreation and Leisure, Psychology and Adult Education. She is completing her MA in Adult Education.
