Sport Commissioner

Patricia Kitchen is currently Canada's Lifesaving Sport Commissioner. Ms. Kitchen has been an active volunteer in the sport of lifesaving and has previously served as Canada's National Team Manager and has also served as President of the Ontario / Nunavut Branch of the Lifesaving Society.

Doug Ferguson was appointed as Canada's first Sport Commissioner and served in this role up to 2006. Under Mr. Fergusons's stewardship, the Lifesaving Society achieved several accomplishments in lifesaving sport including the composition of a national team program, the organization of a national surf lifesaving championship for junior, senior and masters competitors, modification of the Canadian Lifeguard Championships to include international standardized events, the creation of a national officials certification program and the formation of an incorporated national sport organization for lifesaving. Mr. Ferguson stepped down as Sport Commissioner in 2006 following the incorporation of Lifesaving / Sauvetage Canada. He is the executive director of the Ontario / Nunavut Branch of the Lifesaving Society.
