Lifesaving/Sauvetage Canada announced the selection criteria for the 2009 Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships in Edmonton, Alberta from June 12-14. In total, Lifesaving/Sauvetage Canada will be selecting 20 athletes to represent Canada, 10 to the national team and 10 to the national development team. The Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships are recognized by the Commonwealth Games Federation and have been held since 1991.

Commonwealth Selection Trials are being held across Canada:
December 20, 2009 - Guelph, Ontario
January 10, 2009 - Surrey, BC
January 17, 2009 - Halifax, Nova Scotia
January 18, 2009 - Terrebonne, Quebec
