Surf Life Saving – Great Britain informs ILS they are unable to host Rescue 2010
The ILS Board of Directors was informed by Surf Life Saving – Great Britain, that due to the current economic climate, the lack of a 50m pool venue and the difficult financial situation, the Board of SLS-GB having considered its legal responsibilities as Trustees of the Charity, reluctantly voted to inform ILS that they were unable to run Rescue 2010.
ILS appreciate the challenge this decision has placed upon SLS-GB. ILS appreciate the effort of all those who have been involved in the bid preparation, bid evaluation, event planning, event promotion, event rescue and alternative event searching. ILS trust that everyone who can assist this situation has worked hard to be able to run Rescue 2010 in Great Britain. ILS wishes SLS-GB all the best in future endeavours.
The Board of Directors opened the bid for Rescue 2010 and received an application in due form. The normal process of bid evaluation will be done in February 2009. In case of a positive bid evaluation, ratified by the ILS Board in early March, an immediate announcement will be made. If the current bid is not ideal, a reduced scope back up event plan may be activated. We continue with plans to deliver a Rescue 2010 event in the period between 15 September and 15 October 2010. A location, scope and exact dates will be released as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience with the event adjustment.
Once the bid is official, the ILS membership will be duly informed.
