With the third round of Nova Scotia Surf League wrapping up, HRM leads the way in Team Points by a slim margin over the Dalplex Tigersharks. The competitors made the trip to Cape Breton to compete at Inverness Beach on August 1st and it turned out to be a beautiful day for a competition. The water was warm, the sun was shining, and the competitors were in good spirits.
Beach flags kicked off the day with Audrey Prayal Brown (HRM) winning the womens side and Chris Goulet (Dalplex) taking the men's. The competitors stayed dry as the next event was the 2km beach run. Chris Goulet also won this event for the men and Terri-Lynn Bennison showed her all-around talent by taking the women's side. The surf race saw a return to form of Dan Macaulay as he easily won for the Western Province Hammerheads. Terri-Lynn Bennison won her second individual event of the day handily defeating the competition in the Women's surf race. The North Shore/Cape Breton team started to show their depth by winning both the men's and women's run-swim-run. Eric Beaton took the mens side and Terri-Lynn Bennison the women's. The wading relay finished off the day with a bang as the North Shore/Cape Breton Threshers won both the mens and womens events.

The next and final round in the 2009 Nova Scotia Surf League season will be held August 15th at Martinique Beach. This will be the competitors last chance to prepare before the Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships are held at Martinique Beach and Rainbow Haven Beach from August 28-30.
