The final competition of the Nova Scotia Surf League season is now completed. Competitors ventured to Martinique Beach on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia to compete in the fourth and final round of the 2009 season.

The stand out athlete of the day was Adrian Burrill from North Shore/Cape Breton Threshers taking first in the Oceanman, Surf Ski Race and the Board Race. Adrian also finished second in the 1km Beach Run and third in the Surf Swim. Other Male winners were Ryan Salsbury for Dalplex in the 1km Beach Run and Roman Soroka for HRM in the Surf Swim.

The Women's side did not see one competitor dominate the field but a spread of winners with Katie Archibald from Dalplex taking the Oceanwoman and the Board Race while Nancy Witty from North Shore/Cape Breton took the Surf Ski, Meghan Read of Dalplex winning the Surf Swim, and Christine Carrey of HRM winning the 1km Beach Run.

The Ocean man/woman Relay was run as a combined gender event with a few exhibition teams entered. The winner of the male category was the Dalplex Tiger Sharks with the women's being won by the HRM Guardians.

The overall winner from this season was the HRM Guardians with a total score of 1756.50 points combined. The rest of the teams came in as follows, Dalplex Tiger Sharks with 1516.50, North Shore/Cape Breton Threshers with 1230.0, Western Province Hammerheads with 615.0 and the Eastern Province Makos with 269.0 points.

The top Athlete competitors for the females were Audrey Prayal-Brown (192 points), Meghan Read (184 points), Nancy Witty (137 points), Heather Hanlon (137 points) and Melissa Hyson (123.5 points). On the men's side the top five athletes were Dan Fraser (193.5 points), Ahmed Ahdel-Hameid (133 points), Dan Macaulay (120 points), Mark Generoux (119 points) and Jesse Clarke (113 points).

With all the Surf League Rounds completed, the Nova Scotia athletes set their sights on the Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships held right here at Martinique Beach and Rainbow Haven Beach.
