2011 RLSS Commonwealths -- Another Canadian breaks Commonwealth record!

The Canadian women are tearing through Canadian and Commonwealth records.

Swimming Friday afternoon, Brittany Shaw smashed the Canadian record in the 50m manikin carry with a time of 36.59 seconds (the previous record set in 2004 was 40.27 seconds). The time also broke the Commonwealth record of 36.71 seconds set in 2006.

Also on Friday afternoon, the Canadian women's team of Gail Findlay-Shirras, Audrey Prayal-Brown, Brittany Shaw and Jennifer Ellison beat the Canadian record of 1:36.76 set by the Rescue 2010 team in Egypt. The ladies swam a time of 1:35.81.

Canada also earned another bronze medal, with Gail Findlay-Shirras' 2:40.18 in the superlifesaver.

Individual results from Friday are below, though the Men's 100m manikin relay and 50m manikin carry finals had not yet been posted when the Canadian delegation left the pool. The full results continue to be posted on the RLSS Commonwealth website.
